Paul McCartney to Play with the Bollocks
by on April 1, 2018 in Bollock's Blog

Yes, that’s total bollocks. But today is April Fools’ Day, and now that we’ve got your attention you might as well read on. You’re here anyway.

Any band, including Macca and his three mates, would concede that there’s nothing better in the whole world than when it all finally comes together, when the pain of all those god-awful rehearsals pays off and you are just rocking. That’s what keeps you going and makes it worth it – not just in music, now that I think of it. The Dog’s Bollocks showed signs of getting there in our most recent Friday evening rehearsal.

A good dose of Bud and Ken (think about it) unquestionably helped; but so did the presence of a few soon to be announced new Bollocks. We’ve got to keep it quiet for the time being; but…let’s just say it’s exciting (for us) and even if Macca isn’t returning our calls right now (there was – how shall I say? – an “incident”), I’m sure he’s awaiting the big news, too. (Why am I sure? Because I gave a message to some bloke in a bar who swore that his brother met Paulie on a bus in the ‘pool in 1962 and would make sure that the news got through). Anyway, it felt good on Friday and we’re excited to share the news. Stand by.

In other news: upcoming gigs are set for The Shrine in Harlem on May 2nd, Connolly’s Klub in mid-town on June 1st, and The Delancy on the Lower East Side on June 17th. Those are all seriously cool venues and we’re looking forward to doing them justice. A new line-up with new songs, including some originals – that’s what you call…..I don’t know what you call it, but it’s good. More dates will be forthcoming, so stay tuned.

We’re also in the planning stages for hosting some jams, workshops and general party-playing in Bollocks Central – aka our rehearsal room in the iconic Music Building. Several kick arse bands have been rehearsing in the room in recent times – Killdeer, Daisy and the Greenlights, Mike Bennett and the SoulGlo Orchestra – so we’re hoping to do more and better in the coming months.

Speaking of Mike Bennett. Bloody hell! What a show on Friday night at the Bitter End! If you get the chance, make sure to hit his next gig. The SoulGlo Orchestra raises the roof. Similarly, Minor Issues. (The Bollocks checked them out at Connolly’s Klub prior to hitting the Bitter End). Fantastic Show. Those guys play out a lot, so make sure to put them on your “must see” list.

Speaking of “must see” lists, we are building our very own newsletter list to keep you apprised of upcoming shows, classes, community events, jam sessions, gear for sale, and who knows what else?? (no really, we don’t know what else, it’s all new and very exciting) so sign up here if you haven’t already.

OK, enough Bollocks blathering and bloviation (not to mention, enough alliteration). Come and see us on May 2nd at The Shrine. If you use the code word “bollocksvibratingrockandroll,” the band will buy you a beer. If we’ve got any money.

Rock on.

The Dog’s Bollocks.
